Tomorrow sees the start of round one for the 2010 Billabong Pro Tahiti, and a few days afterwards we see the first ever mid year cut of the ASP World Tour.
Watch the Billabong Pro Tahiti – Teahupoo LIVE!
At the conclusion of the event only the top 32 Surfers will remain on the tour, and the rest will be sent packing.
This new system is controversial and has had mixed reactions from the surfers.
Some believe that it is a step backwards in the competition while others feel this will allow for the under performers to be trimmed and the new talent brought through.
Anyone with more than 12000 points after the Tahiti event should be safe, but this mid year culling does pose one question….. Has anyone ever won the title from lower than 32nd at this point in the season?
