The arrival of Australian Prodigy Julian Wilson onto the ASP World Tour has finally arrived. Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, the talented natural-footer has been longed talked about as having the potential to be one of the greatest surfers the sport has ever seen. An esteemed amateur career and freakishly progressive video parts have already made Wilson an international standout and his presence on surfing’s highest podium comes as no surprise.
After suffering from a nagging ankle injury throughout 2009, Wilson then took time to put together his first movie ‘Scratching the Surface’ before unleashing his campaign to qualify for the ASP Dream Tour. The young sensation wasted little time on the ASP PRIME and Star series in 2010, sealing a victory at the SriLankan Airlines Pro to kick start an amazingly consistent campaign that would see Wilson qualify for this year’s roster in less than a year.
Although Wilson joins the World’s finest names with heavy expectations, if his results as a wildcard give any indication of what he’s capable of on the ASP World Tour, Wilson will be exciting to watch this season.
