Jordy Smith has had to wait a long time for his first ASP Tour win, but he’s done it in front of his home crowd against Adam Melling.
Jordy started off with an 8.90 and followed up with his second ride with a 9.03 for a combined score of 17.94.
Adam Melling started off well with a 6.90, however after Jordy finished his second wave Melling was left requiring a Combo score to win the Final.
It was too much for Melling who could then only manage a 3.67 as Jordy went on to score a throw away 3.33 to take his first ASP Tour win 17.94 to 10.00
This means that Jordy Smith confirms his place on the Top of the ASP World Tour Champion race, with Taj Burrow in second place and Kelly Slater, eliminated in Round 3 by Wild Card Sean Holmes, in third.
You wouldn’t be blamed for missing any of the waves over the past 4 days of 2010 Billabong Pro in J-Bay as it was the first time ever it has run without a lay day. If you missed any of the waves don’t be disappointed, we’ve got every wave surfed accessible through your own personal play list at the Billabong Pro J-Bay Waves on demand.
