Quiksilver Cypher Motion – A Short Film

The latest in a long line of movies released by Quiksilver may just be the catalyst to change the way future surf movies are filmed and produced.

In this film, Quiksilver Cypher Motion – a short film, Curt Morgan has taken slow motion surf footage to a new and exciting level.

Curt has built the first ever underwater camera that shoots at 1000 frames per second allowing him to slow surfing movements to scientific levels.

Sure, we’ve all seen slow motion surf footage before.  Jack Johnson does a great job in September Sessions by shooting at a higher frame rate, then used this both as slow motion shots as well as speeding it up to real time producing an almost digital look from film.

The new camera allows us to take a closer look at the amazing abilities of Dane, Kelly and Julian, seeing their twists, turns, balance and airs in all their slow motion glory.
